GUITAR RULES: Note: see also General Rules at front of Syllabus 1. Grade level refers to past or current syllabus of Royal Conservatory of Music or London College of Music. 2. Students may enter Open Classes as well as graded classes, but must perform at the SAME LEVEL IN ALL. See rules #2, #3 and #6 in General Rules. 3. The Board TRUSTS THE INTEGRITY OF THE PERFORMERS to enter at the grade level at which they are CURRENTLY working. 4. Bar numbers are to be marked in Adjudicator's copy of music. 5. If music is used in performance, two ORIGINALS must be in the hall. One for the performer and the other for tHe Adjudicator. See General Rules #13. 6. There must be no use of amplifiers in festival classes. 7. A change of selection cannot be made or announced as a change on the stage at performance time. A performer doing so will be disqualified.
SCHOLARSHIP: 1. See General Rules # 26 through #32. 2. To be considered for scholarship, PARTICIPANTS MUST ENTER: Grades 1 through 6 - 2 solo classes Grades 7 through Diploma - 3 solo classes 3. OPEN, GROUP and PRELIMINARY classes DO NOT QUALIFY FOR SCHOLARSHIP.
KAMLOOPS SYMPHONY AWARD: 1. See General Rule #37. To be considered for this award, PARTICIPANTS MUST ENTER: i) one or more movements of a concerto plus 2 solo classes OR ii) one or more movements of a concerto plus a concert program.
DEFINITION OF PERIOD/STYLE: Renaissance/Baroque - From a Renaissance or Baroque composer or in a Renaissance or Baroque style. Classical - from the Classical period or in the Classical Style Romantic - from the Romantic period or in the Romantic Style 20th/21st Century - from the 20th/21st Century Canadian - written by a Canadian composer Spanish - written by a Spanish or Latin American composer Bach - one movement from a Sonata, Partita or Suite Additional Repertoire - for participants who have an additional piece they wish to perform - for example, a second Spanish, Classical or Renaissance piece. To be at the same level as other classes entered.
