The Provincial Festival was held in Fort St. John June 1st - June 4th, 2016
Congratulations to all the Kamloops participants and especially to those who placed at the Provincials (Please see the winners list under the Provincial Festival heading)
Good Luck to Jaeden Izik-Dzurko who won the National Piano competition and will be headed to Edmonton for the National Music Festival in August.
AT the start of 2015 the KFPA submitted our Host Hotel's name for consideration of an award given to those businesses who support the Arts. The Accent Inn's has supported the KFPA for over 15 years in supplying us with office space for the festival as well as rooms for our adjudicators and participants to each festival. At the Mayor's Gala in January, 2016 - we succeeded in our nomination!
The KFPA is losing more members than we are recruiting and faces the possibility of not being able to hold a full festival without your time and help.
Our Dance Representative has given us notice of retiring from the festival at the end of the 2016 festival. Dance is a large part of the festival and requires more time than any other discipline of the festival. If there were 2 people interested in this position, the job would not be so time-consuming and the workload could be divided. Without Dance in the festival, the future of the KFPA will be in doubt.
The Festival would greatly benefit from a knowledgeable Marketing person to help raise funds and get advertising for our program.
We have run the festival in Kamloops for the past 83 years - let's not let it cease to be due to apathy from our community. We need your help now please. Contact Carol Edwards @ 250-372-2254 or Rita Winkler @ 250-828-0558 to volunteer your time to the festival.
Donate to the KFPA either as a scholarship (state discipline preference) or general fund donation. Donating through CanadaHelps is secure, safe and you are able to print off your Tax receipt immediately
Remember - you can build up your "User-Points or "Air-Miles" Points with any festival payments or donations made with a credit card that gives you user-points.
A limited number of printed syllabus will be available from the Festival for a fee of $5.00 each. To obtain a copy contact Sue Reedman ( 250-372-9339 ) or Carol Edwards( 250-372-2254). The syllabus (rules for our festival, prices for entries in every discipline and registration instructions) is available for downloading from this site as well. Scroll down left menu for Syllabus and then each subheading for the disciplines interesting you.
If you have any questions please contact: the discipline representative or the Festival Administrator - Sue Reedman
Registration for the 2017 Festival will open November 1, 2016 until December 10, 2016. Any entries in after midnight, December 10, 2016 until Midnight, December 20, 2016 will be levied a late-entry fee of $15.00 PER ENTRY.
All entries and all fees MUST be paid by December 20th or the entries will be removed from our festival - no exceptions.
"In music festivals, the object is not to gain a prize or defeat a rival but to pace one another on the road to excellence." - Sir H. Wilfred Davis
