The KFPA is losing more members than we are recruiting and faces the possibility of not being able to hold a full festival without your time and help.
We are in dire need of a person to manage the Strings and Guitar discipline - a strings or guitar teacher, a parent whose child has grown, a performer with a bit of time on their hands. The person who takes this on will be required to donate about 1-2 hours a MONTH to the festival meetings and approximately 5 days total at the time of the festival while this particular discipline is being held. This is a small amount of time to allow the strings performers of our area to come to our festival and perform for an adjudicator and possibly get sent onto the provincial level. All these things are very important to the young performers of the Kamloops area. The pleasure you will get from seeing these performers learn and grow cannot be measured by an hour or two of your time. Please think if you would be able to help the KFPA in this area - we would be very grateful.
Our Dance Representative has given us notice of retiring from the festival at the end of the 2016 festival. Dance is a large part of the festival and requires more time than any other discipline of the festival. If there were 2 people interested in this position, the job would not be so time-consuming and the workload could be divided. Without Dance in the festival, the future of the KFPA will be in doubt.
We have run the festival in Kamloops for the past 83 years - let's not let it cease to be due to apathy from our community. We need your help now please. Contact Carol Edwards @ 250-372-2254 or Rita Winkler @ 250-828-0558 to volunteer your time to the festival.
The KFPA is also in need of a Secretary to attend the monthly meetings, take the minutes and then type them up for distribution to the membership. Again, this is a very small amount of time - 1-2 hours a month at the most for only 9 months of the year.
Donate to the KFPA either as a scholarship (state discipline preference) or general fund donation. Donating through CanadaHelps is secure, safe and you are able to print off your Tax receipt immediately
Remember - you can build up your "User-Points or "Air-Miles" Points with any festival payments or donations made with a credit card that gives you user-points.
A limited number of printed syllabus will be available from the Festival for a fee of $5.00 each. To obtain a copy contact Sue Reedman ( 250-372-9339 ) or Carol Edwards( 250-372-2254). The syllabus (rules for our festival, prices for entries in every discipline and registration instructions) is available for downloading from this site as well. Scroll down left menu for Syllabus and then each subheading for the disciplines interesting you.
If you have any questions please contact: the discipline representative or the Festival Administrator - Sue Reedman
Registration for the 2016 Festival will open November 1, 2015 until December 10, 2015. Any entries in after midnight, December 10, 2015 until Midnight, December 20, 2015 will be levied a late-entry fee of $15.00 PER ENTRY.
All entries and all fees MUST be paid by December 20th or the entries will be removed from our festival - no exceptions.
